Linfield F.C. are a football club playing in the Irish Premier League in Northern Ireland. Founded in March 1886 in south Belfast, Linfield play at Windsor Park, which is also the home of the Northern Ireland international team.

As the province’s most dominant club side, Linfield have been regular campaigners in European football. Their most notable achievement was reaching the quarter-finals of the European Cup in 1967. After beating FC Aris Bonnevoie of Luxembourg and Valerenga of Norway, they faced CSKA Sofia in the final eight. This resulted in a 2-2 draw at home and 1-0 defeat away.

Former Miss Northern Ireland Lucy Evangelista has been the lead model for the club’s 2008-09 Umbro home kit. Linfield FC was remaining tight-lipped last week over claims ’sexually provocative’ pictures had been placed on their official website.

It is alleged that several photographs of Lucy Evangelista promoting the club’s new home strip were given prominence in a picture gallery with the jersey ripped in a revealing manner.

OAKLAND — A goal from defender Ryan Cochrane in the 90th minute was the difference as the San Jose Earthquakes defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-2 at Oakland’s McAfee Coliseum Sunday afternoon.

The win was the first in nine matches for San Jose, which remains in seventh place in the Western Conference. Los Angeles, meanwhile, saw it winless streak stretch to seven games.

The Quakes had opened a two-goal lead in the first half, as Arturo Alvarez and Darren Huckerby scored. But before the half was out, Landon Donovan pulled a goal back for the Galaxy, then late in the second half, Edson Buddle netted a score for LA that seemed to secure the point, until Cochrane’s late heroics.

This is Cardiff City’s  last year at Ninian Park.  To commemorate this and in line with two of their  greatest achievements, the new 2008/09 official home shirt will be a mixture of old and new with the influence of the 1970’s colours.

Cardiff City have adopted the 2008 away shirt that was worn so proudly at Wembley in the F.A. Cup final in May, with the original blue colour that was worn in the 1927 F.A. Cup final.

With the Ambassadors choosing the 1970’s influence, the final decision was made to keep the yellow strips in the similar style of the old retro kit to complete the magnificent looking replica shirt.
