Freddie Ljungberg Arrives in Seattle. We’ve got pictures!
Former Arsenal and Sweden midfielder Freddie Ljungberg has confirmed he is signing for new Major League Soccer (MLS) club Seattle Sounders and will be unveiled to the public at Quest Field in Seattle today.
Ljungberg is available as a free agent after his contract was cancelled by West Ham United in August after an injury-hit 12 months at Upton Park.
Ljungberg will reportedly earn around 16million euros (£12.8 million / $24 million) during his two-year contract with the MLS Sounders.
“I like it here, this feels great,” Ljungberg told Swedish newspaper Expressen.
“It’s perfect, I love it here and this feels great.”
MLS clubs have a contract limit, but the move will be made possible due to the ‘designated player rule’ that was announced when David Beckham signed for LA Galaxy.
