They play in Football League One, after their relegation following the 2005-06 season from the Championship. The team are nicknamed ‘Seagulls’, partly due to the city’s seaside location and partly as a response to the similar sounding nickname ‘Eagles’ of their main rivals Crystal Palace.

Burnley Football Club Errea 2009/10 Home and Away Kits

Burnley Football Club are currently battling with Reading FC in the English Football League Championship promotion play-offs. Today the Clarets defeated  Reading 1-0 and unveiled their 2009/10 Errea home and away kits.

According to Burnley’s website both kits “were been designed to replicate those worn by the Clarets when they were last crowned champions of English football in 1960.

The traditional V-neck claret and blue home jersey features the 50th anniversary logo, is embroidered with the club crest worn in that era and emblazoned with the new shirt sponsor, Cooke Oils.

Kit sponsors Errea have kindly allowed their branding to be moved from the right breast to the sleeve, giving the jersey a more vintage appearance.

The jersey is finished with claret and blue trim on the neck and sleeves and accompanied by plain white shorts and claret and blue hooped stockings identical to those worn by Jimmy Adamson’s men when they won the First Division title.

The away jersey is again in keeping with the 1960 team, featuring a white shirt with claret and blue trim on the V-neck and sleeves.”

These are great kits. Maybe, we’ll see the Clarets wearing them in the English Premier League in the 09/10 season.
